We all know that sleep is very important for all of us, of all ages. The better we sleep, the healthier we feel. So how much sleep we need daily. According to science, a healthy person needs at most between seven to nine hours of sleep.
Sleep and mood are related too. If we sleep less, we will feel sleepy all day, and if we oversleep we feel lazy. The problem with not getting enough sleep can be environmental or psychological. By environment, I meant where you are sleeping? What kind of bed and bedding you are using? Is your bedroom quiet and cool enough to make you fall asleep? The recommended temperature for a bedroom is 60 to 67 F (15-20 C).
If we look into the psychological factors, you may be upset over something, like break-ups, financial trouble or even angry on something. The best way you can deal with those by staying healthy and that you can do, by at least getting enough and quality sleep.
Oversleeping have its side effects too. It slows down the metabolism. Again oversleeping might have some psychological issues too? Anything can lead to it, from peer groups pressure to job loss etc.
The issue here is to break-up the cycle of bad sleep. Let’s discuss this with each other.
Narration of this post
As with all other medicines, proper dosage is of utmost importance, but I will put antibiotics as totally inappropriately dosage on the list as number one. When at times, people buy antibiotics over the counter, usually the dosage is determined by either on the package, the pharmacy person, or the user herself. There are instances that a friend or a family member will tell how much to take. By looking at such practice for the antibiotics, a medical professional, whenever asked, should always write about it and let the people know about the drastic effects of all these malpractices.
Secondly, how often to take a particular antibiotic? Again, either the package or the pharmacy person's input is sufficed for most of the people, which creates a lot of problems. Finally, and to be the most important, for how long to take, before the “course” ends.
One thing you must understand beforehand that neither the package information, nor the pharmacy personals (include in them your friends and family members) have an understanding of the condition for which you are taking this medicine, nor do they have any complete knowledge of the particular drug to be used in a particular place. The leaflet of the medicine is for professional use only.
Although most of the antibiotics used (for example penicillin group) are very safe to use, some have the potential to cause harm, so I would say always opt for an antibiotic with the advice of the doctor.
Anyhow, what are the problems associated with inappropriate dosage, frequency and period of the use of an antibiotic? For an antibiotic to work properly a certain blood level is required as a peak to combat infection. If this peak level is not reached, the effort of antibiotic wrestling with bacteria becomes totally futile. The antibiotic fails to work and the bacteria flourish. Even if taken in the proper dosage, after a certain period of time, this blood level will fall, a doctor makes sure this does not happen and adjust the frequency so that the blood level remains the same, more or less. When the antibiotic successfully combats the infection, it should be taken for such a period of time so that the remnant bacteria or those which have found places to hide in the body must be found and killed.
Usually, when a person takes an antibiotic on her own, the dosage is not sufficient to kill bacteria. They fought against the medicine, which gives them a chance to tackle its method of killing, or you can say they start to understand the enemy strategy. These bacteria can later make their defenses strong enough for the antibiotic to be ineffective; we call it resistance to the antibiotic. In this modern era, this is the major problem faced by infectious disease physicians. Although, it is also related in part with irrational use, and if you ask me I will regard inappropriate use to be the major cause for the most times. The blood level of the antibiotic is already not enough to combat infection and added with it is the unsuitable frequency. Now the antibiotic is fully exposed in the outfield towards its enemies for a longer period of time to be observed carefully and meticulously. The result will be totally in favor of the bacteria; it will learn how antibiotic works and what its weaknesses are. They will design their own strategy to render that antibiotic ineffective on them. If you get cured by chance (mostly by your effective immune system), you have generated or should I say given chance to a form of bacteria that is now partially or fully resistance to this very effective antibiotic. If by any chance, you spread these bacteria to others, then this same antibiotic will not work right from the outset.
You see, little knowledge is dangerous, isn’t it? It’s also my obligation to tell you about the most appropriate use of antibiotics.
As told before, always consult a doctor for an antibiotic, she will determine the proper dosage, frequency, and period, pertaining to your condition to combat that particular infection. Take the antibiotic in full prescribed dosage and never try to even decrease a little, do not try to change the frequency. If you are asked to take 4 times a day, do not just decide on your own about these critical events in the process of the work of antibiotics, as how important they are. Even if you are fully cured, do not stop taking your antibiotic. Go on taking it to the period your doctor has told you to take, which may be from 5-10 days.
